2 New Features for the BVC-700A:

The BVC-700A is a microelectrode preamplifier with both Bridge Current Clamp and Continuous Voltage Clamp Capability. The BVC-700A was designed to serve a wide variety of applications including: Continuous Voltage or Current Clamping; Patch pipette recording; Intracellular recording; Extracellular recording (with the optional 8024 headstage). 

The BVC-700A is a complete instrument with DC and pulsed voltage clamping and current passing capability, filtering, electrode impedance testing, and an LCD voltage, current, and electrode impedance meter . The optional BUZ-1 Universal Buzz Box adds amplitude, duration, and frequency features for rupturing into cells (buzzing).

    • Headstage size: 3.7 cm (1-1/2") X 2.9 cm (1-1/8") X 2.3 cm (7/8")
    • Standard Headstage: N=.1 (although the N=.1 is the standard Headstage, the N=.01 is also a very popular headstage for patch pipette current clamping)
  • Filter Response: Switch selectable DC to 1kHz, 3kHz, 5kHz, 10kHz, 30kHz and Wide Band 
  • Input Bias Current: 1 x 10-12 Amps (Adjustable to zero) 
  • Rise Time to Pulse: Typically 10 microseconds into 10 megohm resistor (10 to 90%), 50 microsecond into 100 megohm.
  • Voltage Gain: X10 and X100 
  • Output Impedance: 500 ohms all outputs 
  • Offset Voltage: +200mV 
  • Balance Reading: Two ranges 0 to 1 megohm and 0 to 10 megohm divided by headstage scaling N (10 turn digital dial) 
  • Electrode Impedance Test: 1mV per megohm square wave (N), Also reads on meter.
  • Holding Current Range: 0 to +100 nA (10 turn digital dial) scaled by headstage multiplier N 
  • Holding Voltage Range: 0 to +200 mV (10 turn digital dial) 
  • Step Command Range V Camp: Two ranges +99.9mV(X0.1), +999mV(X1) 
  • Step Command Range I Camp: Two ranges +99.9nA(X0.1), +999nA(X1) scaled by headstage multiplier N 
  • Gated Input: +2 volt to +20 volt level turns on programmed Step Command 
  • Monitor: 1999 mv meter displays voltage, current and electrode impedance (decimal point is automatically set) 
  • External Command Input BNC: V Clamp- 20mV/V; I Clamp: Selectable 20nA/V or 100nA/V scaled by the headstage multiplier
